This community is settled on the site of a former trash dump and industrial waste disposal site in Managua that has been covered and sealed. There are approximately 1,000 people who live at the dump, about 50% of whom are children. With money donated, we were able to purchase and distribute water Filtron Nica Bucket and CLEAN SIP™ water straws donated by one of our partners. The bucket filters systems are designed to remove harmful sediment and kill deadly bacteria and parasites in the water. The straws are used to filter out pollutants and bacteria in contaminated drinking water when filtered water is not available.

PADRE RAMOS COMMUNITY

This community lacks immediate access to clean drinking water.  While there are wells, the water coming from them is discolored and contaminated.  Trucks bring water to the area, but not on a regular basis and not enough to serve the entire community.  With contributions made by donors, we were able to purchase Flitron Nica Bucket filtration systems which allowed us to help 100 people get access to clean drinking water.

One Million Goal is excited to announce our next major project, we are planning to return to Nicaragua this October to help two more schools by providing them reliable access to clean drinking water!
