The lack of clean water is not just a thirst issue.
Provide water and you provide health. Provide water and you provide nutrition. Provide water and you help stimulate the economy of an impoverished community. Provide water and you provide the sanitation that helps prevent the spread of disease.
Water.org has developed a program of supplying small, affordable loans for water connections and toilets.
Through WaterCredit, Water.org is making these water and sanitation loans accessible to those who need them the most. They work with partners to make WaterCredit self-sustaining with a system that will last long after Water.org’s involvement ends. And, as these loans are repaid, the funds can be used to empower other families with access to safe water and sanitation.
One Million Goal has partnered with Water.Org in support of the WaterCredit program. Your contribution through One Million Goal will not only help families now but will help families in the future. Contribute to the OMG fundraiser with Water.org today.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for investing in the future!

Population of 1.3 Billion
769 Million lack access to improved sanitation
58% of the total population lives on less than U.S. $3.10 per day
Access to safe water stands in the way of millions of kids around the world and a bright future. Dirty water disproportionately impacts children. More than 500,000 children die needlessly every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. And, the loss of 443 million school days each year due to water-related illness limits the potential of these young minds. Water.org is working to break down the barriers that stand between these kids, their families and safe water.
Through decades of research Water.org has discovered there are millions of families spending more than 20% of their income on water. They are caught in a cycle of poverty, unable to afford permanent access to water in their homes and beholden to water merchants who charged exorbitant fees.
The truth is that many of these families can get a water or sanitation solution in their home for a fraction of their annual water costs. All they need is access to affordable financing to make this a reality. We believe that if we can provide people with small, affordable loans for water connections and toilets, we can transform and empower people to participate in their own solution - allowing them to define their own futures and those of future generations.

The 1,500 students of this school are forced to drink water that is often contaminated with harmful pollutants and bacteria. As a result, these children suffer a multitude of health problems -- a consequence that prevents them from achieving the education they want and deserve. With money raised, we were able to purchase and install a Santitron Ultraviolet Filtration system by UV Atlantic. This two-stage system first filters the water with a microbial pre-filter. The water is then sterilized with UV light which kills any bacteria or parasites making the water safe to drink.

Just one month before we arrived, the Department of Health, a governmental organization, issued a letter to the school instructing them to stop drinking the water at the school until further notice because they had received reports of people contracting hepatitis from the water. Our unexpected arrival there allowed us to install a Santitron Ultraviolet Filtration system allowing them to leave the school open to educate students and allow people in the neighboring villages access to clean drinking water.

500 children use a building at this location for after school program and to receive meals during the week, and on weekends an additional number of adults use the buildings at this site for church services. They recently received word that the water they supplied at the site was contaminated and causing disease in the community. One Million Goal was able to install a refurbished filter for them, allowing them to once again supply clean drinking water to members of the community.
